About My Vagus Nerve Discovery: When "Just Breathe" Wasn't Enough
Hi, I’m [Jane].
I am a 38-year-old yoga instructor. I have spent 15 years teaching women how to move, how to breathe, and how to find stillness.
I loved my job. I believed in the practice. But privately, I was drowning.
I had things in my past—old wounds and trauma—that I thought I had dealt with. I did the therapy. I did the meditation. I drank the green juice. On paper, I was the picture of wellness.
But my body didn't care about my resume.
My nervous system was stuck. I was waking up with a racing heart. I was snapping at people I loved. I was exhausted, but I couldn't sleep. I was living in a state of high-functioning freeze.
The Realization
I realized that trauma is not in your head. It is in your wiring.
My vagus nerve—the physical "brake pedal" for stress—was burnt out. No amount of Downward Dog was going to fix that on its own. I didn't need more philosophy. I needed a physical intervention.
I needed to hack my own biology.
I started experimenting. I tried cold plunges. I bought weird devices that zapped my neck. I wore vibrating stones. I looked for anything that could convince my primitive brain that I was finally safe.
And slowly, it worked.
Why I Built This Directory
I realized I wasn't alone.
Every day, I see women in my classes who are doing everything "right" but still feel wrong. They are holding it together, but their bodies are screaming.
I built this site for them. I built it for you.
There is a lot of junk out there. There are $500 devices that are just expensive vibrators. There are apps that promise to "cure" your PTSD. It is a minefield.
I am here to be your filter.
How I Review
I am not a scientist. I am a practitioner. I know anatomy, I know the nervous system, and I know what it feels like to be truly stuck.
- I test it on the bad days. I don't test these tools when I'm calm. I test them when I'm stressed, tired, or triggered. That is the only test that matters.
- I respect your wallet. Trauma recovery is expensive. I won't tell you to buy a gadget unless it does something your own breath can't do.
- I am blunt. If a device requires a messy gel that ruins your hair, I will say so. If a subscription model is predatory, I will call it out.
The Message
You are not broken. You are not "bad" at relaxing.
Your nervous system is just doing its job. It is trying to protect you. It just needs a little help realizing that the war is over.
These tools are that help.
Welcome.
